All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness (2 Tim. 3:16)

Sunday School (Study of the Word of God) – Opportunity to study in detail the Word of God.  Provides in depth analysis of scripture in an open format.  Allows for student and teacher interaction and discussion.  The goal is to encourage a greater desire to study the Word of God which provides direction for our lives.

Teachers:  Elder Michael and Evangelist Monique Foster. Having accepted the calling to minister and qualified as ministry leaders, these individuals diligently study the Word of God and impart this wisdom to others.

What does the Bible itself say regarding the importance of Bible study?

Reference:  Deuteronomy 6:4-9, “Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one. Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.” (NIV)

This verse challenges us to first of all "hear" what God has to say and then to memorize, know and do God's Word.   God is commands us to teach ourselves and our children His Word, so that it penetrates our hearts, minds and will—that is, every aspect of who we are. We are to write it down, secure it , bind it and adhere to it in all aspects of our lives.

Reference:  2 Timothy 3:14-17, “But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it, and how from infancy you have known the holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” (NIV)

This passage calls us to scrutinize, understand, and then apply Scripture to our life. Clearly, we should be constant and passionate in our study of scripture.

God wants us to grow and learn about Him and His ways.  Through reading the word of God we can understand moral character, wisdom and knowledge. The Bible teaches us about the Father, Son and Holy Spirit and gives us instructions on how to live!

The Bible is not just a list of dos and don’ts, but a love letter from the Lord. God shows his love for us through the stories that deal honesty with bibical characters, how they failed and how they succeeded. It shows us how we are to view God and each other, how we are to conduct ourselves, and how we are to measure our everyday ideas and activities. The bible points us to the knowledge of God's saving grace and examples of godly living.

God Himself gives us the directions and the desire to study his word - it is a lamp unto our feet

“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.  For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened (Matt 7:7)”.

“He who does not love me will not obey my teaching. These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me (John 14:24)”.

“If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him (James 1:25).”

The Bible helps us to be confident that we can go before God by the power of His Spirit, through His Word!
