United Way 2-1-1 provides callers with information about and provides referrals for human services, for everyday needs and in times of crisis. Operating 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Please continue to use 9-1-1 for emergency calls.

United Way 2-1-1 is a multi-lingual, comprehensive information and referral service available 24/7/365. The database contains more than 20,000 programs and services such as after school programs, senior care services, medical and prescription assistance, credit counseling and mortgage foreclosure assistance, and housing and utility resources. Individuals can also call 2-1-1 to be connected to volunteer opportunities in their area.

Local Sponsor and Operating Agency

United Way of Washtenaw County, in collaboration with Huron Valley Ambulance, is excited to sponsor an important county-wide information and referral system called the 2-1-1 Initiative.

Huron Valley Ambulance hosts the Washtenaw County 2-1-1 Call Center.

By using the local access number the following types of health and human services can be accessed:

  • Basic Needs: Food bank, clothing closets, shelters, rent assistance and utility assistance.
  • Physical and Mental Health Resources: Health insurance programs, Medicaid and Medicare, maternal health, children's death Insurance Program, medical information lines, crisis information services, support groups, counseling, drug and alcohol intervention and rehabilitation.
  • Employment Support: Financial assistance, job training, transportation and educational programs.
  • Support for older Americans and persons with disabilities: Adult day Care, congregate needs, Meals on Wheels, respite care, home healthcare, and transportation and homemaker services.
  • Support for children, youth and families: Childcare, after school programs, Head Start, summer camps and recreational programs, mentoring, tutoring and protective service.
  • Emergency relief support services: Centralized information source for disaster relief services
